A study on the influence of temperature on machining of API series steel
API steel, Machinability, Temperature, Cutting forces
The study of the influence of heat in machining processes of API series steel suggests that the hot machining condition presents critical aspects regarding tool performance, chip flow, and surface finish of the workpiece. These three basic elements constitute the focal point for analyzing machining results, as the state of the art in terms of manufacturing technology. In fact, it should be considered that chip flow generates heat due to friction on the tool surface, but the temperature of the workpiece also directly influences this effect. In this research, a review was made on the influence of the workpiece temperature on cutting forces, using a range of cutting parameters, also considering that the heat transfer generated in the machining process also influences the results in terms of cutting forces. Basically, this research focuses on studying machinability correlated with the workpiece temperature and cutting forces.
