SUMMARY:

In December 2019, in China, in the city of Wuhan, the occurrence of several cases was identified. simultaneous episodes of pneumonia caused by the new coronavirus, called SARS-CoV-2, which causes COVID-19. The virus was highly contagious, quickly spreading to others. countries, configuring a pandemic. Adolescents are just as likely to become infected as adults and elderly, however, in most cases they present asymptomatic, mild or moderate. However, this population is also subject to evolve into serious and critical situations. Despite the rapid scientific production on the new coronavirus and the pandemic, they are still scarce studies on COVID-19 in adolescents, regarding the clinical, epidemiological and demographic profile, especially in Brazil. The objective of this research is to analyze the clinical, epidemiological and demographic of teenagers with COVID-19. This is an observational epidemiological study, cross-sectional and population-based to be performed with secondary data analysis. Were data were collected regarding the reported confirmed cases of COVID-19 and the cases not confirmed in the e-SUS VE system. The data were made available by the surveillance directorate epidemiological analysis of the Municipal Health Department of Divinópolis, Minas Gerais, being extracted and stored in Microsoft Excel 2016 spreadsheets. Subsequently, they were exported for the Program Statistical Package for the Social Science (SPSS) version 20. Data were collected demographics such as age and sex and clinical-epidemiological data such as symptoms and health condition. The Kolmogorov-Smirnov normality test was applied. Statistical techniques were used descriptive and analytical. Analytical statistics used bivariate analysis, with a confidence interval of 95%, that is, a significance level of 5%. For comparison of proportions and verifications in the analysis bivariate, Pearson's chi-square test or Fisher's exact test was used. After completion of bivariate analysis will be performed multivariate model selecting all the variables that showed statistical significance with p value ≤ 0.20. In the final model, only the variables will remain with a significance level equal to or less than 5%. Preliminary results showed that the proportion of confirmed cases of COVID-19 is higher among adolescents who had the symptoms headache, fever, taste disturbances and olfactory disturbances compared to those not showed these symptoms (p=0.001). The sore throat symptom was proportionally lower (p=0.001). This investigation has the potential to bring indicators to favor the elaboration of public policies and interventions to combat the new coronavirus, in addition to contributing to the current literature in the field of adolescent health.
