Introduction: Diabetes mellitus (DM) is the inadequate control of blood glucose levels, which due to for several reasons. When it comes to diabetes mellitus (DM) insulin resistance is the main symptom, however, the pathology can lead to the appearance of changes that influence the overall functioning of the cell and cause cell death. Thus, loss of skeletal muscle mass, function, and strength may occur. Therefore, DM, as well as extrinsic factors linked to the disease, are related to the onset or progression of sarcopenia, a condition in which there is loss of muscle mass. Objectives: The aim of this study was to determine the prevalence of sarcopenia in patients with Diabetes Mellitus DM treated in Divinópolis-MG. Method: Data collection took place in the northern district of the city of Divinópolis-MG, and includes a total of 301 patients with DM, who underwent physical examination, in addition to pre-existent questionnaires, or specific ones constructed for this work, which analyzed the behavior of the patient with DM, along with the diagnosis of sarcopenia.
