SUMMARY:

Abstract:
The research aims to examine, based on the foundations of Critical Discourse Analysis
(FAIRCLOUGH, 1992; 2003), political and gender violence through patterns of discursive
recurrence in attacks made against former parliamentarians Joice Hasselmann and Manuela
D'ávila, through Twitter and carried out by far-right profiles. The corpus is composed,
respectively, of 100 tweets, which will be analyzed in order to map the discursive construction
of the attacks, investigating possible similarities and/or divergences in the discursive
representations about the parliamentarians; discuss which ideological and hegemonic
principles underlie discursive representations, seeking to understand the belief systems that
cross the political media space. Our theoretical support for the development of this study will
be the assumptions presented by Critical Discourse Analysis, based on the works of
Fairclough (2001) and Van Dijk (1995), such as the notion of Digital Discourse proposed by
Paveau (2017) and some aspects of Linguistics Applied, developed by Moita Lopes (2006).
The preliminary results indicate that the insults analyzed have two patterns of hate speech:
insults of a traditional nature (stupid, hypocritical, etc.) and insults of a political nature
(communist, fascist, leftist), being articulated in both profiles. However, the objective is to
analyze, through the selected discursive materials, how parliamentarians are victims of attacks
on social media, leading to political and gender-based violence.
